AquaChek Chlorine 4-in-1 Test Strips are a must-have in granulated chlorine/silver ion hot tub and swim spa water care systems. This test strip measures Cyanuric Acid (CYA), also referred to as stabilizer. The CYA level in your hot tub or swim spa can be the determining factor if it's time to partially drain or fully drain your water.

Aquachek Chlorine 4-in-1 Test Strips measure:

  • pH: 6.2-8.4
  • Free Chlorine: 0-10 ppm
  • Total Alkalinity: 0-240 ppm
  • Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 0-300 ppm

It is recommended to keep the CYA level in your hot tub or swim spa under 50ppm.

Did You Know? Cyanuric Acid (CYA) is the stabilizer that is present in all granulated chlorine used in hot tubs, spas and swim spas. The purpose of CYA is to make the chlorine stick around longer. If granulated chlorine did not have stabilizer in it, it would burn off quickly. The drawback is that the CYA builds up in your spa water.

As the CYA level increases in your hot tub or swim spa, the effectiveness of the free chlorine sanitizer (FCL) goes down. In a hot tub or swim spa that has a CYA level of 100ppm, the FCL is 0% effective. The inverse relationship of CYA to FCL is why you want to keep an eye on CYA levels in your hot tub or swim spa. The only way to remove high levels of CYA is to do a partial or full drain, depending on the level of CYA present.
